What I should have said was "a binary that supports more than one target" (or maybe a more precise term than "target"). The Ruby that ships with Snow Leopard contains both 32-bit and 64-bit builds, and so that's what took me awhile to figure out for the FXRuby build. Good point. Snow Leopard is Intel only (see <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/10/snow-leopard-officially-puts-powerpc-macs-on-endangered-species/" rel="nofollow">here</a>) so there will never be anyone with a PPC chip to worry about anyway!
